To our Cy-Fair Republican Women Members and Friends:
The month of August will be here at the end of the week. Where has the time gone? Our CFISD kiddos will be headed back to school in just 4 weeks. They will be mask free and no more virtual learning – it will be in person learning. Hooray!!
Commissioner Tom Ramsey from Precinct 3 will be out guest speaker for our August 19th social. The Commissioner, who has had an illustrious career in civil engineering was elected as Precinct 3 Commissioner in November of 2020. He is a 30-year resident of the precinct and has been a part of numerous infrastructure projects that have improved mobility and safety. He will deliver a talk on the State of Harris County Precinct 3 that you will not want to miss.
The August social is an evening event from 6-8 pm at Hearthstone Country Club and is also a pay in advance event, no walkups or payment at the door will be accepted. Attached is a form to fill out and submit with your payment before August 12th. This form is also available at www.cfrw.net.
High Heels High Tea is approaching fast. Please reserve your table or purchase your tickets today. Remember we do have layaway on tables, but we need commitments to make sure we will have enough space for all our guests. All forms are available on the website at www.cfrw.net and you can bring those with you to the August social or mail them in.
We have added some new members to our CFRW Club and so excited to have them and appreciative of all our members who have renewed. I thought in this President’s Bulletin it would be a good time to go over some basic housekeeping rules for new members and a quick refresh for our veteran membership:
1)Reservations are a must to make sure we have enough seating and food for all attendees; we have been having a significant number of people just showing up, without a reservation, and it puts us and Hearthstone in a bind for enough seats and food for those who were considerate and made their reservation in advance.
2)We have been losing money every month because we have people walking past registration, if there is a line, and then forgetting to come back and pay. We are asking for you to be patient and please stay in line until checked in.
3)Our speakers we get want to come and talk with compatible individuals. They all also know how influential and hard-working Republican Women are in helping to get Republicans elected. I am asking you all to be respectful of them, their time and message by asking you to not video their speech. If any of our speakers brings an assistant with them to video their speech, that is different than a member of the audience doing it without approval from the guest speaker.
4)Why do we need to know your occupation? CFRW is a PAC. This means we are registered as a Political Action Committee and with that comes special reporting and rules. Our Treasurer, Pat Baughman, must report on a regular basis to the TEC (Texas Ethics Commission), which oversees Campaign Finance. Here is the link to the TEC if you would like a better understanding. But in a nutshell we ask this information to be compliant with the Campaign Finance rules, to continue to operate as a PAC and be able to receive money and give money to candidates. https://www.ethics.state.tx.us/
